A technique which raises operation speed. For example, the operations of process or and I/O device are carried out simultaneously. Inside the processor, the preprocessing of instruction (e.g. accessing instruction, decoding,address calculating, accessing operand, etc.) and the execution of instruction can be dealt with at the same time.
