In library science, (a) the extent to which the system permits precision in specifying the subject of a document to be processed, e.g., the specification of a digital computer has a higher specificity than that of a computer, (b) a measure expressing the ratio of non relevant documents not retrieved to the total number of non relevant documents on file.
