A control technique by which data fields can be machine-checked against each other to prove the accuracy of machine, merging, coding, balancing, reproducing, gang punching, record selection from magnetic drum, disk, and tape storage. In wired control-panel machines this is accomplished by comparing magnets, and in a stored-program machine it is accomplished with acompare instruction.
