释义	computerized composition 计算机化排字 In typesetting, the use of a computer to make the mathematical decisions to drive the typesetting machine. An idiot tape is produced on a keyboard and subsequently input to the computer which sums the set widths of individual characters and spaces on a line, makes the necessary end of line decisions, such as hyphenation and justfication, and then outputs a justified tape used to drive the phototypesetter or metal linecasting machine. 在排版技术中,使用计算机来作出驱动排字机所需的数学判断。使用键盘产生无格式要求的穿孔纸带,输入到计算中;计算机算出一行中字符的排字宽度及空格的宽度之和并作出必要的行尾判断,例如加连字符及版面调整等;最后输出一个带格式要求的纸带来驱动照相排字机或金属连铸机。参阅hyphenation, justify, linecaster。
