relational query

A request for information from a database that specifies a number of criteria for the search, some of which use relational operators or specify relations amongst the information being sought. For example, a manager who wants to reduce his staff may perform a relational query on his personnel database to find the names of all employees who have worked less than 5 years and who earn more than a given sum of money.
