释义	optical switch 光学开关 An opticalsemiconductor chip, that can manipulate light beams the way electronic devices manipulate electrons. Consisting of a crystalline layer of galliumarsenide sandwiched between two crystalline layers of galliumaluminumarsenide, the experimental device can be switched on in less than 1 nanosecond with as little as 25 pJ of light energy. Turnoff time, which is limited by carrier lifetimes, is currently 40 nanoseconds.
