In a positional representation, the factor by which the value represented by a character in the digit place is multiplied to obtain its additive contribution in the representation of a real number. For example: for hexadecimal 125, the weights associating with the characters 1,2,5 are respectively 16&+{2},16&+{1},16&+{0},therefore, (125)&-{16}=1×16&+{2}+2×16&+{1}+5×16&+{0}=293.
